Supporting Mental Health Awareness Week 2020

15 May 2020

At Sanctuary Retirement Living we take the mental health and wellbeing of our residents and staff seriously. We’re proud to once again support Mental Health Awareness Week with this year’s theme ‘kindness’.

Mental Health Awareness Week (18-24 May) 2020

Remaining committed to our rounded approach to emotional, mental and physical wellbeing, called ‘Your Home Your Life’, we are continuing to support residents to live independently alongside helping to look after their wellbeing. Even during this time of social distancing with the Coronavirus pandemic, our amazing teams have been providing inspiring new ways to help residents remain active, both mentally and physically. With the help of our onsite Wellbeing and Inclusion Assistants, the range of new activities on offer includes activity packs with quizzes and puzzles being delivered to each door, socially-distanced singing and socially-distanced exercise sessions, all helping residents continue to feel connected.

Kindness has also been shown in many different ways across our communities recently, from messages of support, donated cakes and flowers, as well as many other items including personal protective equipment (PPE) for our frontline workers. Visit our Facebook page to see more about the kind and thoughtful donations our services have received.

Staff from other parts of our business have also been volunteering their time, lending a helping hand with shopping and other duties to support residents and staff. These gestures of kindness have meant so much at this time, helping to boost community spirit and coming together to support one another.

We offer a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been offering support, as well as the understanding from family and friends currently unable to visit their loved ones, but staying in touch digitally or at a distance. We’re doing everything we can to ensure residents stay safe and well during these strange times, but we couldn’t do it without your kindness and support.
