Roman Ridge staff have hearts of steel
Staff at Roman Ridge retirement service in Sheffield have been publicly thanked for the exceptional care and support they provided to residents during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Bernadette West, a resident at Sanctuary Retirement Living’s Roman Ridge, has arranged for a thank you message to be engraved on the British Heart Foundation’s ‘Hearts of Steel’ sculpture, which is on display in the city’s Meadowhall shopping centre.
Residents at Roman Ridge have their own apartments and communal facilities, including a restaurant, with onsite care and support provided by Housing and Care 21. During lockdown, both teams worked hard together to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and ensure that residents continued to receive the care and support they needed, including arranging food deliveries for those who were shielding. The inscription on the sculpture reads ‘Roman Ridge, Thank You To All Staff’ in recognition of all the different staff members who played a part in keeping residents safe.
Julie Reeves, Retirement Living Housing Manager at Roman Ridge, said: “We were so surprised when we were told about the engraving, it’s a real honour and I know it means a lot to every member of staff to be recognised in this way.”
