Raising the bar at Exning Court

26 July 2019

Staff and residents from a Suffolk retirement living service have celebrated a special anniversary with a party and the grand opening of their new resident bar.

The new resident bar that has opened. Sanctuary Retirement Living’s Exning Court celebrate the opening of their resident bar

Residents and staff at Sanctuary Retirement Living’s Exning Court, which provides retirement apartments with onsite care and support for over 55s, marked the 50th anniversary of Sanctuary Group with fish and chips, and a quiz. Residents also enjoyed a free tipple from the new bar, which was designed and built by a member of staff in the maintenance team.

The bar area is the latest in a series of resident-focused changes at the service and has already received lots of interest, particularly from male residents who would normally be less likely to take part in more traditional organised activities.

Sanctuary Retirement Living’s Tracey Earl, Registered Retirement Living Manager said, “Everyone had a fantastic time at the party, and it was particularly nice to be joined by residents who wouldn’t usually get involved in our activities. We asked residents to choose a name for our bar, and they decided to call it ‘The Exning Arms’. We’re looking forward to planning more social events using this new space.”
