March retirement residents spread Christmas joy

9 November 2020

Residents and staff at Sanctuary Retirement Living’s Jubilee Court in March, are hoping to spread a little Christmas joy with their annual Giving Tree project.

For the second year running, residents and staff at Jubilee Court, a retirement service for the over 60s, will be gathering gifts to support children in the local area at Christmas. The service has a Christmas tree with gift tags on display in reception, so anyone who wants to donate can choose a tag from the tree and buy a present. The team at Jubilee Court will then wrap the gifts and ensure they are ready in time for Father Christmas to deliver them.

Many of the gifts are kindly donated by the residents and staff at Jubilee Court, as well as their faamily, friends and generous members of the local community.

Last year, the Giving Tree gifts were donated to the Ormiston Families March Child and Family Centre, which has a strong partnership with Jubilee Court and, pre-Covid-19, organised regular ‘mum and baby’ visits to the service.

This year, after a period of quarantine to avoid the risk of spreading the virus, the presents will be given to children at Holly Ward, the children’s ward at Hinchingbrooke hospital, to help brighten their Christmas.

Suhail Chaudhry, Registered Retirement Living manager at Jubilee Court, said: “Despite the restrictions of lockdown, residents and staff at Jubilee Court were keen to hold our Christmas Giving Tree project again. It’s been such a difficult year for everyone and so we wanted to try and spread some Christmas cheer.”
