Jubilee Court spreads community Christmas cheer

17 December 2020

Residents and staff at Sanctuary Retirement Living’s Jubilee Court in March are celebrating another successful year of spreading Christmas cheer in their community, with their annual Giving Tree project.

For the second year in a row, residents and staff at Jubilee Court, a retirement service for the over 60s, have been collecting gifts to support children in the local area at Christmas.

The service put a Christmas ‘Giving Tree’ with gift tags on display in reception, so anyone who wanted to donate could choose a tag from the tree and buy a present.

With all the gifts now collected, the team at Jubilee Court have ensured they are ready for Father Christmas to deliver to local children who are in need of a treat this Christmas.

As well as generous donations from the residents and staff at Jubilee Court, many gifts were also donated by their family, friends and kind-hearted people from the local community.

Last year’s Giving Tree gifts were donated to the Ormiston Families March Child and Family Centre, and the project was so popular that staff and residents wanted to run it again, this time in support of another great local community cause.

The Jubilee Court team recently handed over all the gifts to staff at Hinchingbrooke hospital, where, after a period of quarantine, they will be given to children staying at Holly Ward, to help make their Christmas special.

Hayley Massey, Wellbeing and Inclusion Assistant at Jubilee Court, said: “We were so pleased with how many donations we collected last year, so we really wanted to do it again to support even more local families. We’ve been overwhelmed with everyone’s kindness and generosity, and I’m sure it will mean a lot to the children who receive these amazing presents.”
