Community kindness brings Christmas cheer

1 December 2020

A retirement community in Ketley, Telford, has been given a dose of Christmas cheer, with a donation of gifts from their local Asda store.

The Community Champion team at Asda generously donated 24 beautifully wrapped gifts to Sanctuary Retirement Living’s Rose Manor, as part of their aim to support local community causes.

The retirement service, which offers apartments with care and support for over 55s,  has made the donation part of its festive plans for December. Every day leading up to Christmas, one lucky resident will have their name drawn out of a hat and will win that day’s Christmas gift. Prizes include sweet treats and toiletry gift sets.

Trish Ball, a Wellbeing and Inclusion Assistant at Rose Manor, said “I wanted to organise an extra special countdown to Christmas for residents, so I contacted Asda’s Community Champion, June Walker, to see if she could help. Fortunately, she said yes! Many of our residents are vulnerable and have been shielding in their apartments for months, so this is going to help bring some much-needed festivity for them, after a very difficult year. We’d like to say a big thank you to the Asda team for this kind donation, it really means a lot.”
