To mark the 25th anniversary of Sanctuary Retirement Living’s Trellis House, and 50th anniversary of Sanctuary Group, residents were treated to a garden party which included the unveiling of a memorial plaque.

Cllr Janice Howard, recently appointed Mayor of Merton, came along to take part in the event, with guests being entertained by the resident choir joined by pupils from Merton Abbey Primary School.

Trellis House plays an active role in the community, with the local reverend running a weekly church service, as well as regular visits from the school children who sing for the residents.

Cllr Janice Howard, Mayor of Merton, said: “It was great to meet both older residents and the younger generation in the community, and to see them coming together and enjoying each other’s company.”

Beverley Tomkins, retirement living manager, added: “Celebrating two big milestones was a great opportunity to organise a party. The residents had a fantastic time and are asking when the next party will be. I was overwhelmed when they presented me with flowers for organising the party and chocolates for all the staff.”
