Dunboyne Court comes together for Mental Health Awareness Week
As Mental Health Awareness Week gets underway, a Torquay retirement living scheme has been promoting the mental wellbeing of its residents with an evening of Chinese food and pool.
Sanctuary’s Dunboyne Court retirement living scheme, on St Marychurch Road, hosted the event as part of Mental Health Awareness Week, which runs from Monday 8 to Sunday 14 May.

Thirteen residents, friends and family attended the event, which saw them take part in an evening pool tournament at the retirement living scheme, after feasting on a range of Chinese dishes.
The event was organised to tie into the national awareness week’s theme of ‘Surviving vs Thriving’, and how activities like exercise and mindfulness can bolster a person’s mental health.
Scheme service manager Grace Beer said: "Retirement living schemes like Dunboyne Court offer accommodation and personalised care as standard, but it’s through events like this, which foster that sense of community, that we can really help our residents to thrive.
“It was a fantastic event and a wonderful opportunity for residents to catch up with each other.
