The team at all 29 communities laid on a selection of homemade treats for a MacMillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday 24 September, and residents enjoyed the chance to get together safely for a catch-up.

Now in its 31st year, the event encourages people to get together, enjoy a slice of cake and a cuppa, and raise awareness and funds to help them support people who have been affected by cancer.

Sanctuary Retirement Living services across the country were set a challenge to raise over £1,000 for the charity with all proceeds from coffee, tea and cakes going to the cause.

The popular event exceeded all expectations, doubling the original target and raising and incredible £2,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Many of the coffee mornings were held in services’ Taste restaurants, which are open to family, friends and members of the public for breakfast, lunch and snacks.

Sanctuary Retirement Living’s retirement communities provide accessible and homely apartments for older people or people with long-term care needs, and many of them take part in the event every year.
