12 June 2019

To mark the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings, the residents of Sanctuary Retirement Living’s Harry Garrett Court joined together to watch the country remember all who were involved in the landings.

Eric Amos remembers D Day

Harry Garrett Court residents had a lovely surprise when Mr Amos donned his uniform and medals including his green beret to join the other residents in the lounge to mark the anniversary.

Eric said: “I always get involved in remembering events like this. I had two uncles who were lost in the landings – one served in the Navy - and the other served in the RAF. I was am extremely proud of my own service and feel it is very important to remember and respect our fallen service men and women.”

Harry Garrett Court residents went on to enjoy a hot drink and cake while reflecting and sharing all their memories of the landing which took place 75 years earlier.
