Hillyard House exterior

Jacqueline Stephens

Jacqueline Stephens has lived at Sanctuary Retirement Living’s Hillyard House in Brixton for over 24 years. Having her own apartment within the wider service allows her to maintain her privacy and independence in her own home, whilst the onsite care and support team are available when she needs them.

Jacqueline enjoys taking part in the regular activities and events organised by the wellbeing and inclusion team, as well as attending other residents’ parties. Recently, she had a very special reason to enjoy a party, as she celebrated her 100th birthday.

Along with other residents at Hillyard House, Jacqueline was treated to a range of her favourite food, as well as live entertainment, with music being performed by the local singing group ‘Songs on Wheels’, who kindly donated their time to make her day special. Jacqueline was also particularly pleased to receive a birthday card from the Queen.

Kristine Sackey, Wellbeing and Inclusion Assistant at Hillyard House, said: “Jacqueline has made so many friends since she moved to Hillyard House. She gets on so well with everyone and she is loved by all the residents and staff.”

Brenda Werukusanga, Retirement Living Housing Manager, added: “It was a pleasure and a privilege for the staff and residents to be able to celebrate Jacqueline’s 100th birthday with her. Jacqueline really enjoyed it and everyone had a lovely day.”
