Catherine Byron only recently moved into Sanctuary Retirement Living’s Coopers Court in London but already feels at home.

Catherine, who has been in the area for the last 10 years, previously lived with her daughter nearby and in local sheltered accommodation. She chose to make Coopers Court her home after a friend who lived there recommended it. She then visited during their annual Silver Sunday celebrations in October 2019 and she liked it so much that within a month, she had moved into her new apartment.

The 72-year-old said: “I feel cherished and safe living here, I love the people and the staff at Coopers Court. I have so much less to worry about now and even have my prescriptions delivered.

“There are so many activities on offer, I enjoy taking part in art, mindfulness sessions and seated exercise. I particularly like the intergenerational sessions where children from a local school visit – it’s great hearing their stories and learning about what they do.”

Irish-born Catherine worked with the wellbeing and inclusion team to organise the service’s St Patrick’s Day party, inviting some Irish dancers from a local school to perform.

“I love being out in the garden and am looking forward to helping with the raised beds. I’ve already made lots of new friends in the short time I’ve been living here.”
