Anthony Leen

Since moving into his retirement living apartment, Anthony Leen feels like he is part of a ‘big happy family’.

Anthony Leen, Sanctuary Retirement Living resident at Coopers Court

The 54-year-old moved into Sanctuary Retirement Living’s Coopers Court, in Bow, London, in September 2018, following a long hospital stay.

Anthony said: “In 1998 I developed multiple sclerosis and my condition has progressively deteriorated over the last 20 years.

“After being discharged from hospital in summer 2018 I moved around a couple of supported housing services and really struggled with feelings of isolation and depression, before moving on to Coopers Court.”

Anthony now gets involved in the regular group activities that take place at the service and has made lots of new friends.

He commented: “I can honestly say I now feel really happy. I feel more connected to the people around me and I look forward to waking up in the mornings.

“I’ve got a friendly, happy atmosphere around me all day, with help available when I need it. Since being here I’ve fallen twice and had to press the emergency button and I would have been really scared if that help hadn’t been there.

“The fear that has always existed in the back of my mind has gone.”
