General Assistant

St Bartholomew’s Court, Playden

£8.62 to £9.08 per hour (dependent on qualifications)

12 hours per week – to include alternate weekends

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed General Assistant to maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout St Bartholomew’s Court, whilst adhering to Health and Safety Guidelines. In addition to this, you will also assist with meal preparation within our Taste café and help serve light bites and snacks. Our Taste café is open to residents and members of the public from 12:00pm – 2:00pm, seven days a week.

Situated on the outskirts of picturesque Rye, our retirement living service provides apartments and communal facilities for over 60s. If you want to make a positive impact to people’s lives, this is a rewarding opportunity to come and work within an established and experienced team.

The role of General Assistant will include:

  • Preparing and serving light bites, snacks and drinks for residents
  • Ensuring all cleaning duties are completed to a high standard
  • Assisting customers with queries and responding to complaints in a professional manner
  • Identifying and reporting potential faults and hazards on site, to maintain a safe environment
  • Maintaining stock levels, restocking as required and ensuring equipment is used in line with guidance notes
  • Delviering a friendly and helpful service

Skills and experiences:

  • Working knowledge and experience of undertaking general cleaning duties is essential
  • Some experience of working in a domestic/cleaning environment
  • Level 2 diploma in housekeeping/catering, or willing to work towards
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills
  • A general understanding of health and safety in the work place
