Based at Sanctuary Retirement Living’s Jubilee Court in March, Cambridgeshire, Mandy’s job involves supervising the day-to-day running of the care services provided to residents. She commented: “It’s very rewarding knowing you have made a positive impact on people’s lives, which is why having good relationships is so important.”

Mandy’s career in care started many years ago, and she has worked in various areas of the sector including a residential care home, the NHS, the prison service and specialist dementia homes.

She started working for Sanctuary Retirement Living in January 2018 after deciding she wanted to move into more general care. She said: “I absolutely loved my time in dementia care but felt I needed a change. I looked into Jubilee Court and its background, and it felt like this was where I was meant to be.

“I have recently been promoted to registered manager which was one of the proudest moments of my career. One of the things I love most about my job is that I play an instrumental part in the smooth running of the care unit, but at the same time I’m able to be there for the families of our residents, whether that’s a formal meeting or simply a shoulder to cry on.”
